Dow Jones Newswires
Dow Jones is a leading provider of business and financial news reporting and data, along with Bloomberg News and Thompson Reuters. Based in New York, the company print and digital media holdings that include the namesake financial news wire, Barron's, MarketWatch, Smart Money and its flagship newspaper, The Wall Street Journal.
I work full time as a reporting intern on the Newswires' energy and commodities desk at the New York headquarters. The desk is responsible, along with Dow Jones bureaus worldwide, for covering developments in the production and trading of oil and natural gas, coal and nuclear energy, precious and industrial metals, and agricultural commodities. I cover the energy futures and precious and industrial metals markets.
Highlights of My Work
I have reported on the futures markets, writing previews, recaps and commentary on trading in New York, getting perspective from market players, analysts and economists. I was expected to learn quickly, developing the ability to evaluate the complex set of forces weighing on the minds of investors each day -- from macroeconomic and political forces, to fundamentals of supply and demand and headlines from markets around the world.
In addition to my work's presence on the Newswires, my reporting has appeared in The Wall Street Journal in print and online. (Examples below, more are forthcoming)
