A list of some of my skills that make me a valuable asset in a newsroom.


In the classroom:
Copy editing training at the Temple University School of Journalism by the Dow Jones News Fund. Coursework at Macalester College and American University in news, features and opinion writing, with seminars on computer-assisted reporting, media ethics and investigative reporting. Advanced courses in international and domestic politics, law and history.

On the web: Skilled in the use of Internet and library research tools and databases after working for two years as a reference aide at the DeWitt Wallace Library. Proficient in social networking platforms, including Facebook and Twitter. Basic knowledge of HTML and Web publishing software.

On the computer: Proficient in the use of Adobe InDesign and QuarkXPress layout programs. Good working knowledge of Hermes Newsroom and Adobe Photoshop.
